Tomorrow we have special guest Gavin Rennie. I will be inviting you to nominate someone to give thanks on behalf of the class and we can agree on a waiata tautoko during mid morning break.

Gavin's speaker bio is below.
Gavin Rennie is a Registered Social Worker based in Tamaki Makarau
He began work in the Social practice field in the early 1970’s and his practice
was firstly in Community Development ,then Agency Management
followed by 30 Years as a Teacher of Social Work
He was the Initial Head of the Social Work school at Unitec
And with Russell Jaffe wrote the first Social Work Course taught at Unitec
He was first Chair of the Aotearoa New Zealand (ANZ) Schools of School Work
And for many years the ANZ rep on the Board of the
International Schools of Social Work (IASSW)
He has written papers and presented at conferences on aspects of teaching Social Work,
on Church Social Services , and on Community Development as a field Social Work Practice
He was the first editor of Whanake the ANZ Journal of Community Development
He has received international recognition of his contribution to Coommunity development
He is currently a Trustee of the Te Tapui Atawhai the Auckland City Mission
