Kia ora koutou,

Yesterday we introduced the OCCUPATION Brief.

Please read the project description carefully all the way to the end!

The tasks for Thursday are to complete site research and specific site selection.

The Auckland Council Geomaps site offers much of this information, with layers of contours, Arial Maps indicating the accurate location of buildings, roads, paths and trees, as well as flood paths and much more. https://geomapspublic.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/viewer/index.html

The final Location Plan, Scale 1:500, is required to illustrate:

  • north point
  • sun path
  • wind directions
  • trees size and shape
  • contours
  • pedestrian and vehicular paths
  • viewpoints (from the site and of the site)

You should have understood the programme of actions to be accommodated in your architecture and the scale of the 48 cubic metre structure to do this.

Make the most of the student mentors on Wednesday morning to work on these tasks!

See you in class on Thursday afternoon.
