a few updates from sociology.
Groups:
a big thanks to those in-class on Friday that coordinated the organizing of people into groups for our final assessment, which is a group presentation (special thanks to Vanessa, Isabel et al).
please follow the link here (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1b16_IbvGftD6BVoZQY7uBEfhDZXzQgUl-xvuYA60D0A/edit?usp=sharing). to find your group.
On Friday this week (20th October) we will dedicate the whole session to group work, brainstorming ideas, and sharing out presentation responsibilities.. It is therefore vital that you attend on Friday to be part of this initial group discussion. If you are unwell it is your responsibility to inform your group and to make arrangements on how you will contribute to the group presentation.
Participation:
Attendance has decreased over the past few weeks. I want to remind you about the importance of in-class learning and encourage you all to attend as we head into the final weeks of semester. We have guest speakers booked on 27th Oct and the 3rd Nov. Their "payment" is your presence and attention!
Marking:
the marking of the essays are well underway. I am still within the "turn around time" from our extended due date on the 1st October. Those who submitted before the due date or before the 4th October can expect to have your results COB Wednesday (18th October). I will then be marking in order of submission.
Evaluation:
the link to the student evaluation "rate my course" should have been emailed to you. It is also accessible on our sociology moodle page under the evaluation tab. Please take the time to complete the evaluation as it is really important that i get your feedback about what went well and what you may wish to see developed (FYI I read every bit of feedback)
I am in (a very friendly) competition with the other lecturers to get the most evaluations done for my course, so your help is appreciated. If you do this now, you won't forget. I will also make some time on Friday for this important part of the course.
see you all on friday.
