This course introduces and explores the key concepts of leadership through developing an understanding of self- leadership and how this influences others. Models, theories and concepts are explored and applied through the leadership of an activity within a community context.

Learning Outcomes:

1.       Demonstrate an understanding of self leadership and how personal and professional behaviours affect others

2.       Explore and evaluate leadership definitions, styles, concepts and theories and relate them to an appropriate situation

3.       Demonstrate personal and professional leadership skills and capabilities in a specific context related to a chosen sector

This course introduces pathway-related concepts related to human biology and healthcare as well as developing relevant academic skills in order to prepare students for further study in their chosen specialty.

1.       Demonstrate broad operational and theoretical knowledge in human biology with a healthcare context.

2.       Work independently and collaboratively to apply solutions to context-relevant academic tasks and problems in human biology and healthcare.

3.       Apply a range of literacy and communication skills using appropriate media relevant to the field of human biology and healthcare.

This course introduces pathway-related concepts related to human biology and healthcare as well as developing relevant academic skills in order to prepare students for further study in their chosen specialty.

2.       Draw on mātauranga Māori to contribute to an understanding of pathway related knowledge and skills

3.       Source and analyse published research to present findings in a form that is relevant to the pathway

4.       Create and evaluate long term study career plans.

This course introduces students to effective basic communication skills for completing daily tasks and resolving everyday issues together with an acknowledgement and understanding of cultural diversity and Tikanga Maori.

This course introduces students to the concepts of being a responsible citizen through one’s own actions through the interaction with groups and communities including respecting and understanding cultural diversity as well as having an awareness of the importance of Te Tiriti O Waitangi in Aotearoa New Zealand.
