Overview:

By end of this course you will be able to

  • Analyse your current active learning practice in relation to learning theory.
  • Consider different activities to increase your active learning repertoire
  • Identify how you support your students' active learning.

The following Te Noho Kotahitanga principles underpin your teaching for active learning:
Kaitiakitanga: Your guardianship of knowledge is crucial as you manaaki learners into the discipline and build their learning gradually through doing.
Ngākau Māhaki: As you respect the knowledge and experience that your learners already have and bring to class, you will adapt your classroom activities to be more student-centered. Reciprocal learning (ako) allows everyone to engage actively.
